After our second long distance bus journey (this one was meant to be 16 hours but it actually took 18) we arrived at the beautiful island of Santa Catarina. From the moment we got off the bus, the people were the friendliest we have come across so far.
Out of all the places we went to in Brazil, this one was the best. Unfortunately we left our camera on the bus down to Uruguay so we only have a little snapshot.
We visited the sand dunes of Jaoquina beach where we attempted to sandboard....
Sarah decided a roly poly was easier though...
Taking a break from another trek to the beach.
Not posing at all...
The view from the left...
The view from the right....
We both had our first ever surfing lesson (Sarah was a natural!), but sadly we lost the pics of us in our wetsuits...
A massive highlight was watching a 'samba rock' band called Mundo Livre (think 'Latin' Fun Lovin Criminals!) play at an amazing local club. The vodka flowed in to the wee hours and the dancing was epic!
All in all... Santa Catarina was the most fun yet.

As always, jealous as hell. Shame about the camera - no back ups?
ReplyDeleteThankfully our video camera takes pics too, so we're still in business!!!
